The Snow Sings
by Chorus du'Challis

dedicated to Sorchaa Ame-du'Challis

The snow sings across the window glass,
As I drift idly through daydreams.
Voices whisper in the cupola, bringing memories past.
The door opens and there she is.
Emotions swell, confusing me, silencing me.
I see that face, rosy from the cold.
Light from the Winter Sun brightening her, happier times.

Winds shift, the glass roars, and I return to the present.
The cupola is empty, the woman gone, or never was.
The snow sings across the window glass,
As I slowly drift through daydreams.
I see the face, stern and serious,
Speaking softly through a clenched mask.
Her anger washes over me, I try to ignore it.

Winds shift, the glass undulates,
As I willingly drift through daydreams.
I see that face, troubled and thoughtful.
Winter snow kissing her cheeks.
She glances, at my perch on the parapet, smiling.
I can't help but smile with her.
She stares back at the distant mountains.
Something is wrong, deceptions real or imagined.
She does not look back.

Winds shift and die away, leaving silence,
As I try not to drift through daydreams.
The door opens, and there she stands.
Emotions swell, confusing me, silencing me...

Au revoir, Sorchaa
